In 2013, Delargy Productions Limited - a Belfast-based documentary production company - produced a 40-minute film on the life of Mercedes Gleitze. The documentary includes interviews with family members and a range of swimming and historical commentators. 

Among those interviewed are Britain’s Olympic swimming gold medallist, Duncan Goodhew; Dr Helen Pankhurst, great granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst; historians Dr Marilyn Morgan and Lucy Moore; Dr Ciara Chambers from the University of Ulster; Fiona Southwell, open water swimmer/coach, and Brian Meharg MBE, North Sea pilot.

The film also features two eye witnesses, one of whom witnessed Mercedes’s swim across the Strait of Gibraltar. Never-before-seen moving and still images of Mercedes enhance the story, while the film is narrated by Hollywood actress Greta Scacchi, with music provided by Michael Nyman.
